Help us to keep on building

About us

Constru Casa is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life among Guatemalans living in extreme poverty through the provision of basic housing, support programs, and community development projects related to health and education.

Guatemala is among the poorest countries in the Americas, with more than half of its population living in poverty. Many of these Guatemalans live in inadequate housing: a typical house consisting of cornstalk walls, a dirt floor and a scrap material roof. We provide houses of 1 to 3 rooms constructed with concrete block or eco-blocks for families in need. In addition, we build community buildings such as schools, clinics, orphanages, and community centers to assist in community development.

Our team is based in La Antigua, Guatemala, but we work throughout the country. Our work is always in collaboration with local social work organizations to identify and select families of exceptional need. Beneficiary families participate in the construction of their home and pay back 33% of the total cost of their house, which then goes to fund future projects.

We work in collaboration with two overseas foundations, Stichting Constru Casa, in Holland, and Friends of Constru Casa, in the USA. These foundations, in addition to international foundations and organizations, generous donors and volunteers, help fund our work. We rely on their support to continue the work of Constru Casa in Guatemala.
