Gloria Margarita and Ernesto Zuleta have a young family. At only 33 and 34 years old respectively they are parents to five children between the ages of 14 and 6. Prior to this year they got by as best as they could on Ernesto’s single income as a farmer. Their house was pieced together with cane and plastic sheeting.

New home opened the door to education for one family in San Antonio Aguas Calientes

Maria Teresa and Jeronimo Perez Apen and their ten children live in the town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, in the department of Sacatepequez. Walking up the steep dirt stairs to their house gives us a spectacular view of the valley and the Volcan de Agua. The family’s beautiful view was made even better with the construction of their Constru Casa home in 2006, one of our first homes.

IMG 5072Maria Marciala Lopez and her family live in a simple neighborhood of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, which is a town in the department of Sacatepequez , of mainly indigenous population. The main bread winner in this family of eleven is Maria’s husband who is always at work. He works as a mason. Maria tries to contribute to the family’s income selling the tortillas she prepares daily at home, and weaves any moment of the day when the family doesn’t demand her attention.
