Newsletter- June 2016

Dears Friends of Constru Casa,

All the members of this organization feel very proud of everything that has been achieved in the first half of the year. We are filled with satisfaction at the completion of all of our constructions, which includes all the houses and all the community projects.

We want to thank all the people that have been part of the successful projects; volunteers, donors, masons, community leaders, the boards in Holland, United States and Guatemala, and of course all the members of the office, that day by day follow the mission and vision of Constru Casa.

We hope we keep working together for this next semester and that way keep building better lives in Guatemala!

Constru Casa Team

We started Balanyá Project!

In May, thanks to the support of SELAVIP Foundation and Carlos F. Novella Foundation, we started a really ambicious project in the community of Santa Cruz Balanya, Chimaltenango (1 hour away from Antigua), where we have the objective of building 60 one bedroom houses.

The project will last 4 months and we will receive different groups of volunteers during that time, who will help in a direct way to build the houses along with the families of the community.

We want to thank SELAVIP Foundation for their important donation and making this project a reality.

We also want to thank Carlof F. Novella Foundation, for renewing our partnership for one more year and the donation of most of the cement that is going to be used during this whole project.

If you want to be a volunteer or know more about the project, you can send an e-mail to:

Hollistic project in Chuaquenum

Constru Casa feels really proud to announce that in the next few months in the community of Chuaquenum we will have the opportunity to start a hollistic project that can help up to 35 families.

In the past couple of months, Constru Casa has built 2 clasrooms with the support and help of the community and our donor, Miracles in Action. We were able to upgrade the school that is already working in the community.

Now, with the help of our new donor, Home for a Home, we are going to be able to support the community in a different way, and build new houses for the families that need them and that are living in extreme poverty conditions.

In the next few months we will have more news about the projects, which will help a community that is eager to develop.

Welcome Keith!

We want to proudly announce our newest staff member, Keith Silverton, who joins us as the new Communication Officer. He was a volunteer with us for 4 weeks and was part of the construction of 3 houses.

If you want to contact him, his e-mail address is:

Start of the school in Salquil Grande!

By the end of June, Constru Casa plans to start the construction of a school in the community of Salquil Grande, Nebaj, located in the municipality of Quiché, in the north of Guatemala.

The community leaders were concerned that they didn’t have a safe place for the kids of Salquil to study, and that is why they got in touch with Constru Casa. In a few months that concern is going to disappear, and be replaced by real hope for all the kids in the community. We already built a remote junior high school, and we want to thanks our partner organization Miracles in Action for their donation. Also we want to thanks SKG for the donation of this new project.

If you want to be part of the project, you can joins us by gathering with 10 friends or family members and be part of a great adventure in the Quiché area, and helping us building better lives in Guatemala.

This area needs your help due to the different war situation it lived in the past and they are eager to develop their communities and that way forget that violent past.
